Illegitimately conceived on the far Left Bank of Vermont Ave. In L.A.
(pre-uprising) at one of the boho coffee houses where the disaffected hang and due their thang, 2 Bass Hit is the twisted brainchild of it’s collective membership. Though most of the members were involved in other “projects” at the time, since all of them were going nowhere fast they figured that one more couldn’t hurt.
Beyond trying to upset the dominant paradigm in society, keep a roof over their heads and uplift the downtrodden of the human race in general , while at the same time make them dance like hell, 2 Bass Hit remains modest in it’s career and cultural objectives despite their formidable global conquests.
Not being the types to brag or boast about their individual or collective achievements, they’ve allowed me to blow my own horn, so to speak, in their favor.
Needless to say all the current and former members of 2 Bass have had stellar careers in other monstrously rippin’ outfits. At any given moment, on any stage in any local or remote part of the world 2 Bass is likely to include at least 1 and up to 3 former members of Universal Congress Of, at least 1 Jumbos’ Clown Room, some Tupelo Chain Sex, Jack Brewer Band The Beatles, The Stones, Che Guevera, god, The Black Panther Party, your mother, the girl next door, any former presidents of the united states, my grandmother, something old, something new, something borrowed (not stolen, they’ll return it as soon as they’re done, and something Kind A Blue.
On a more serious tip though, the band has been shredding through the L.A. scene for about a year and a half, hitting every club, party, loft scene, dive and bomb shelter worth mentioning. With only a few slight breaks to take care of some ‘personal problems”, get out of jail, borrow some money to get their gear out of the pawn shop or vacation at their summer villa in Club Med., the band has been on a steady upward spiral, both musically and artistically. Most of them even make it to the gigs now.
So due yourselves a real favor and treat your ears, feet and soul to the hypno, hip-hop, post bop, don’t stop psychedelic audio cacophony that calls itself 2 Bass Hit while you can still catch them in this universe. You won’t be disappointed.
Sincerely,
